Thoughtless Thursdays: Jewelry Cleaning!

Photobucket

For this week's Thoughtless Thursday over at Katie's blog, I'd like to discuss RING CLEANING. I'll tell you how I clean mine and if your method is different, I'd LOVE to hear it!

After googling home ring cleaning and reading about 28 articles, this is what I came up with:

1. Have dirty rings
2. Soak in hot water for 15 minutes3. Dip an old toothbrush in window/glass cleaner and scrub for several minutes4. Re-soak ring in hot water for a few minutes

5. Re-scrub with toothbrush but this time with just hot water6. Put it in jewelry cleaner for a few minutes
7. Rinse and let dry.8. Wear your shiny clean rings!
Head over to Life in the Fulmer Lane to play along and don't forget to tell me how you clean your rings!

I'm always scared to clean my own rings because I don't want to mess them up. I always just take them to the jewelry store.

I have my rings cleaned at the jewelry store. I might have to try cleaning them your way though, it seems so easy!

Im going to have to try this method! I've tried everything! Including soaking them in Vodka which a friend taught me- nothing has worked beautifully so this is worth a shot!

Very pretty and CLEAN! I LOVE windex alittle too much so I could see how putting your rings in it would clean them too. I'll have to try with my earrings.

Oooo pretty rings!! :) For some reason, I loove looking at wedding rings. Personally, I think I have a diamond obsession (but don't tell my husband that! HA!)

I usually just use an old toothbrush and running hot water. Seems to clean them up okay for me. I will have to try your method though!

Be very careful cleaning jewelry this way!!!!! I use to work for a jewelry repair store and we would have people come in all the time with diamonds missing because of failed at home cleaning attempts. It is always better to take diamond rings to a jeweler to have them cleaned. Most do it for free and will also check the settings/prongs for free. Sometimes all it takes is one bad brush and a diamond will be knocked out of its setting...
