Weekend Recap

Friday night, Batman and I headed to my Mom’s house for some dinner and to watch a movie. She ended up picking Shrek – Happily Ever After. Batman was hooked (BIG Shrek fan)

Saturday we had a bunch of errands to do. In between them, we stopped for lunch @ Chili’s. The parking lot was a little tight, so take a look at how this guy decided to park…

Saturday night we headed out to a Providence restaurant called Ten Prime Steak & Sushi. It was the last night of Restaurant Week and we thought it’d be a fun night to check out a new place!

Check out the décor in here & something I found unique… blue salt!

Another interesting aspect of the décor, we were seated near a sculpture of a woman’s body that hung on the wall… Come to find out, her name is Jasmine… Here's Jess & Jasmine

After dinner, it was time for dessert. Oh, and the dessert menu at Ten? It is 3-D! They brought us all glasses to check it out!

021022

Jay, Jess and I each got the lava cake – BEST THING EVER. And Cory ended up with… cookies & milk! How cute is this dessert?

Sunday, we headed to the mall to pick out something I could wear for next weekend. I checked ALL the maternity stores to no avail. Where did I find something? White House, Black Market of all places!

That’s our weekend in a nutshell… hope you all had fabulous weekends!

Wedding Wednesdays: You’re Engaged! Now What?!?

wed wednesdays2

**Due to some technical difficulties Wedding Wednesdays will now be on my blog as opposed to the Wedding Stories blog***

It’s that wonderful time of the year where tons of people are getting engaged! But, once the excitement of it all dies down, they begin to panic and think “Now what?!? Where do I start?” After having gotten this question from multiple friends and acquaintances over the past couple of weeks, I thought it deserved it’s own post. So here’s how I think you should start…

Decide what time of year you want to get married (Picture yourself a blushing winter bride or a sunkissed summer bride?)

Pictures from friend’s weddings: Spring, Summer, Winter & Fall

2009.05 M&J (8)2009.07 A&A (17)2008.11 L&J (10)2008.09 K&J (2)

Decide where you’d like to get married (Your home state, his home state, a place you both love to visit, a tropical island, etc.!)

Wedding locations we’ve visited: Jamaica & Vermont!

2009.05 A&S (16)2008.09 K&J (22)

Narrow down the venue search (Is a country club too formal for your no shirts/no shoes/no problem attitude?)

Wedding venues we’ve been to: Foxwoods & a barn!

2008.11 L&J (6)2009.09 P&J (4)

Decide on your budget and determine who will be contributing what. (Sometimes these conversations aren’t always “Fun” but they are certainly necessary before you begin any planning!)

Your VERY first vendors to book will be the venue, caterer (if needed), ceremony location (if different from reception venue) and officiant.

After that, it can vary but personally I’d be looking through magazines for color inspiration & dress styles, researching photographers & musicians and starting a binder to keep track of all my ideas!

PS – Coming from a true insurance geek, make sure you insure that new rock on your finger!

Week 23

How far along: 23 weeks (Size – Papaya)

Maternity Clothes: Yes! Except for this week's picture (below). We went out to dinner Thursday night and I wore a non-maternity shirt that just happened to be longer; felt PRETTY good about that!

Sleep: Actually slept pretty well this week!

Movement: Feeling some flurries but nothing I can definitively say is "a kick". This week the doc said literally any day now

Food Craving: Trying to eat healthy! So I'll say apples and bananas!

Gender: B.O.Y.!

What I'm looking forward to: Picking out a glider for the nursery this weekend

Weekly Wisdom: Doing some pre-natal yoga can make you realize how out of shape you have become - yikes!

Fun Fridays!

Happy Friday! Since the life of a 6 month pregnant woman is so OVERLY exciting, I (shockingly!) don't have any big plans this weekend. Some errands planned for Saturday then maybe a trip to BRU with hubby on Sunday but really nothing worth a whole post about. Instead, I thought I'd share some random ramblings from this week...

First off, we are supposed to get MORE snow, from last night into today and tonight. Probably only 7 inches or so but still, it's turning in to quite the Winter Wonderland around these parts!

Second, American Idol is back!!! Who tuned in? I've heard people say they used to watch it all the time, stopped watching it the last few years and now are back to watching it to see these new judges. I've also heard people say they ALWAYS watched but now refuse to because of the new judges... So what camp are you in?
Personally, I'm in neither... I watch every year AND I'm psyched to see these new judges!
Finally, I bought my diaper bag this week! Now this has not been an easy decision for me. As you can imagine, like most large purse purchases, I have been hemming and hawing over this topic for a while. I've always loved Petunia Pickle Bottom bags but never thought I'd want to spend the money to invest in one. When the time actually came to start thinking about diaper bags, I decide "You know what? I can just use a bag I already have." Then a good friend told me she loves her Vera Bradley diaper bag, so I considered buying that one for about a week. Then another friend came over last weekend with a PPB bag and I LOVED it, and she told me how much she loves it. THEN I went online and started looking at the patterns and fell in love with this beautiful gray/white/yellow one. I figured, girly enough for me to carry, boyish enough to hold baby boy's belongings. Ahh but the price piece again... WELL, then I found another place that carries the bags: Baby & Me Boutique. Not only do they carry the pattern I wanted (when the PPB website said the style was "Coming soon"), they offered a 10% off coupon + free shipping. I mean, it was meant to be. So, alas, the not-so-easy-decision to purchase a diaper bag is finally complete.
My new bag:

Well THAT was longer than I expected! (That's what she said). Now let's hear about YOUR fun this Friday!

Thoughtless Thursdays: Yee-haw!

This week for Thoughtless Thursday, I had to share something I saw in my Google Analytics last week. It's a map of the country showing where people are coming from who read my blog. Check out the state with the most visitors... Is it my home state, Rhode Island? Oh nope, that's #2! #1 is TEXAS!!! Big shoutout to all my Lone Star State readers!
