Clothing Recommendations

Can you tell I may have a slight shopping obsession for my son?

For onesies, I love Carters. I find they keep their shape/size well in the wash.

For PJ’s, Carters wins out too! We’ll either get them at Kohl’s (They always have sales and coupons) or at Carters/Carters outlets. They always have big sales too! One thing I will say though is that the sizing has been slightly off for us. For instance, Jack is 9 1/2 months and is in size 18 month pajamas (still in 12 month for onesises).

For his fancier outfits, we like Children’s Place and Gymboree mostly!

Here’s what other Mama’s say…

Shanna

Aside from the typical GAP and Gymboree, Sam wears lots of Deux par Deux, Jacadi and Catimini, all French brands. Okaidi has great European style clothes at reasonable prices. For onesies, he uses white ones only and we prefer Carter's as they are less likely to shrink compared to Gerber. White socks from Old Navy are the least likely to fall off. My baby likes to pull them off though,...

McKeever

As a newborn we lived in gowns! As a baby: I definitely recommend pajamas that zip all the way up rather than button. Such a hassle during the night! I wish I had thought about the crawling stage while shopping. Not the smartest idea to make your crawler wear dresses all the time. I have learned!

Megan

Favorite places to buy clothes:

Little English
Zulily
MudPie {My Baby Pie}
Smocked Auctions on Facebook
The Monogrammed Mob of Facebook - you can post for free your clothes that have been monogrammed and buy and sell, works great!

Melissa

I get pretty much everything at Old Navy or Carter's. Their stuff is reasonably priced so you won't be too sad if you have to cut off a onesie due to a massive poop explosion, and the quality is good. I really love the PJs called Stretchies from the Children's Place too.

Mrs. C

You can never have enough onesies from age 0-12!! Carters was my go to place!

Emily

-I get a lot of hand-me-downs from my sister in law. So, the only advice I have is that Oxi Clean is a really good way to make clothes look new again. I use a TON of it. I put nearly 20 scoops in the washer on hot water, dump all the clothes with set in stains in, and let them soak over night. Then, I add in the detergent and wash on a normal cycle. That usually gets any stains out!

KW

I’m a Gymboree snob. Not for the label but mainly for the comfort and the durability of their clothes. Oh, and it helps when you worked there during your high school/college days for 4 years.

Sara

- I had itty babies with bitty legs that were impossible to wrangle into sleeper legs... stock up on newborn nightgowns and those midnight diaper changes will be a breeze.

- If you're having a baby in a cooler season, you may want to consider buying footed sleepers as infant socks are notorious for falling off.

Shelley

- Sleepers

-PJ's with the zippers are easier than buttons

Andrea

  • sleeveless plain white onesies by Carter's are THE BEST for layers- we have a hot baby so they are great for under outfits without baby getting too hot.
  • have totes ready for packing clothes away- baby grows out of things SO FAST
  • if baby is 3 months and you have a 6mo outfit- have them wear it b/c before you it they are 6.5months old and that cute 6mo outfit doesn’t fit them at all!
  • size organizers for the closet are nice- this way you have all sizes in one section for quick grabs

Erika

Savannah ended up being so tiny when she was born we had to go out and get preemie clothes. We choose clothes for comfort. We bought a few cute dresses but she never wears them. Same for shoes – she doesn’t need them and we bought them. Since it’s now winter we layer her pj’s. We found out the hard way that she was getting cold and couldn’t tell us (she was waking up every hour).
