11 Things!

Erika tagged me in this and I’m so excited to play! Here we go…

11 Things You May Not Know About Me

1. I was born with dark hair but at some point before 3, it turned BLONDE. Then as I got a little older (10-12 maybe?) it got dark again… Very weird! I highlighted it a lot in high school but I’ve been my natural dark brown self for the past 10 years.

2. I’m lactose intolerant; started when I was 18.

3. I’ve dabbled in wedding planning and event coordinating but with hubby’s 2nd job being a DJ, it doesn’t make sense for both of us to be gone on weekend nights with a 1 year old.

4. I’m Jen, my husband is Jay. My brother’s name is also Jay, and his wife? Her name is Jenn. (And at one point, we all drove Jetta’s. True story.)

5. I’ve never broken a bone (knock on wood) but have had plenty of surgeries as a kid (chronic ear infections).
6. I’ve never got a speeding ticket (knock on wood, again).
7. When I first met my best friend, I thought her name was Casey (it’s actually Becca), since that’s what it said in the Freshman Directory. They had her name mixed up with someone else and when she said “Hi, I’m Becca” I thought “what a liar”… We (obviously) worked things out after that!

Us on my 19th birthday & on my 28th birthday… Going on 10 years!

8. I am a chronic nail biter. As much as I try to stop, the second I feel stressed or anxious, my fingers end up in my mouth.
9. In grade & middle school, I was active year round. In the fall, I did cheerleading for Pop Warner Football, as well as soccer. In the winter, I took ballet. In the spring, I did ballet and soccer. And in the summer, just soccer. Oh and I was a girl scout during a few of those years…

10. I have AMAZING girlfriends; but only one of them lives in the same state I do. This makes me sad.
11. I have to have a tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy and septoplasty in July. I’m not looking forward to the 2 week recovery time…

And 11 Questions…

1. What is your profession?

I work in Product Management for a Property & Casualty Insurance Company. I work on the Personal Insurance side (your every day auto & homeowners policies).

2. How would you describe your style?

VERY girly. I love to dress up and accessorize. I have a WALL of necklaces (but can never choose one to wear) and rows of shoes. I am very lucky to have a husband that understands the need for a walk-in closet.

3. What one make-up product can you not live without?

Lip gloss. I probably have 30+ lip glosses around the house, between my make-up bag, and then a few in each of my purses. For a nighttime look, I never go without eyeliner. I feel like my face doesn’t look “done” without it.

4. If you could be besties with one celebrity, who would it be?

Jessica Simpson. I’ve always had a girl crush on her. She can do no wrong in my eyes and is so unbelievably successful; it’d be great to be around that kind of energy.

5. What is your dream vacation?

I REALLY want to go to Europe; I want to travel through Italy with hubby and see where our families came from; I want to see Paris; London, etc. We’ve also talked about a 2 week Hawaiian vacation for our 10th anniversary…

6. What magazines do you subscribe to?

None.

7. If you could have any special talent {that you don't currently have}, what would it be?

I wish I had a nice singing voice; I don’t need to be Carrie Underwood but just would like to carry a tune at birthday parties ;)

8. What is your favorite breakfast food?

On special occasions, sweet bread French toast! Yum! Every day basis, coffee or iced coffee and oatmeal with fruit.

9. If you could do anything, what is your dream job?

Something to do with weddings. Event planning, photography, etc.

10. What is your guilty pleasure?

Cheesy chic-lit. My brain is in overdrive at work so when I get to read for pleasure, I make sure very little thinking is required.

11. What is the best piece of advice you've ever received, and who gave it to you?

“Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest.”~Mark Twain… Someone I worked with back in the late 90’s had this quote taped to his computer monitor and it’s stuck with me ever since.
